Pollen health food production. Pollen mixture in a hive being held by French beekeeper Patrice Percie du Sert. These lumps of pollen grains are gathered by honey bees (Apis mellifera) from a variety of different flowering plants. Bees gather this pollen to feed their larvae, but here the pollen is being harvested to be consumed by humans as a health food, due to the concentrated nutrients it contains. It is high in protein, and also contains valuable trace elements, such as minerals and vitamins. Du Sert sells his pollen health products through his company Pollenergie.
