But as every horseshoer likes tohave good sharp tools, I will give the following instruc-tions on different tools which if put into practice, itwill be no longer necessary to work with dull tools. How to Make and Dress a Pair of Pincers. To make a pair of pincers, take a piece of yg-i^ichsquare steel which should be 75 points carbon, forgeand bend to shape as illustrated in Fig. 88, leaving thejaw the full width of the steel and tapering towardsthe cutting edge, but be sure and leave the jaw heavyand strong as indicated by a in Figure 88. After thejaw is bent to shape, strike the flat surface of the cut-ting edge a few good blows by placing the jaw on thenarrow or flat end of the anvil.
