This grand statesman, from purepatriotism, and against all party alliances, saw the importanceof annexing Texas to the United States. This bill waspromptly signed by President Tyler and forwarded to it was the joyous privilege of President Tyler, two daysbefore his term of office expired, to sign a bill for the final an-nexation of Texas to the United States. SEVENTH ERA OF TEXAS HISTORY. We are now to trace the seventh and last era of the LoneStar State, from annexation in 1845 to 1901. It is safe tosay that the colonial history of Texas, in glorious self-sacrificeand heroism of her men and women, eclipses any other Sate inthe Union.
