There was, however, plenty of material for myethnological studies. I pitched my tent in the jungle,and during the two days that I spent there, I wasvisited by Pangwe women from the neighbouringvillages, who, when they had overcome their timidity,offered to sell me their beautifully worked neckletsand anklets. The most interesting curiosities, namely,their elaborately dressed hair, I could not of course. oS
