The Aru Bayskins have less white on the underparts and lateral line than themajority of those from Loh Sidoh Bay, but two of the latter areexact matches for the Aru Bay specimens. The type of Sciurusalbescens is said to have white hairs .in the pelage above, but thereare practically none in any of Dr. Abbotts specimens. lyon] NEW SUMATRAN SQUIRRELS 283. Co be c io 3 3 i m A STUDY IN BUTTERFLY WING-VENATION, WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO THE RADIAL VEIN OF THE FRONT WING By THOMAS J. HEADLEE After making wide studies of pupal and adult wings in nearly allorders of insects, Comstock and Needham (98)^ constructed anhypothetical type of wing venation, which they believed closely torepresent, in number and branching of the veins, the condition thatexisted in the ancestors of the present winged insects. Later (04),Comstock^ modified this type by the addition of three typical crossveins (text fig. 30).
