Wat Chiang Man temple in Chiang Mai
Wat Chiang Man was founded by King Mengrai in 1297 on the site of Wiang Nopburi, a fortified city of the Lawa people, which was used by the king as a camp during the construction of his new capital. It was therefore the first temple of Chiang Mai, the oldest in the city.
