Falkirk Wheel Boat Lift

The Falkirk Wheel, an innovative engineering project for the Millennium, is a massive boat lift that joins the different levels of the Forth and Clyde Canal and the Union Canal utilising the principles of Archimedes who discovered that a floating object displaces its own weight of water. As a result, the pods of the Wheel weigh the same with or without a boat in situ, allowing for perfect balance at all times.
