Orchid flowers (Rhynchostylis gigantea). This is a close-up of several flowers that form part of a cluster. Each flower has a petal called the lip (purple). This attracts pollinators and provides them with somewhere to land. This orchid is found in the southern parts of South-East Asia. It is an epiphytic orchid (one that grows in trees). There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
