A black cat staring intensely at the viewer. Its right paw is bent gently, as though it is about to approach the viewer, but weary to do so. In the back, a typical white picket fence can be seen. The gate to the driveway is open. The cat has amazing, intense and intelligent eyes, as though it is calculating its approach, or assessing the viewer. The cat’s tail is slightly stiff, showing that it is apprehensive. It almost looks and feels like Halloween. There is something slightly eerie and spooky about this image. The fact that it is in black and white makes it timeless – it could be the 1990’s or the 1890’s for all we know. There is a sort of steeple in the distance that could be part of a church or entrance to a cemetery.
