CORONADO, Ca. (Feb. 9, 2024) Expeditionary Sea Base PCU John L. Canley (ESB 6) arrives at Naval Air Station North Island where the ship will be commissioned. The first of its name, the ship honors retired Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. John L. Canley, who was awarded the Medal of Honor 50 years after his actions during the Battle of Hue City. Canley served as Company Gunnery Sergeant, Company A, First Battalion, First Marines, First Marine Division in the Republic of Vietnam from Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, 1968. Sgt. Maj.
