Tuscarora is also some-what noted as a, placer field, while Aurora, a new district west of Cornuropia. is said to hevery promising. It is 10 miles from the lastnamed place to Aurora. In the vicinity of the mining districts spokenof, there are rich agricultural valleys where allkinds of grain, but corn, are extensively raised, TEE &&CIFIG T0&&I&3: 179. and vegetables and melons grow to a great sizeand excellence. There are, also, vast stockranges—all of which are tributary to Elko. South from Elko there is a semi-weekly stage,mail and express route h> Bullion City, the townof the Railroad Mining District. This town hasabout liO people, and is distant 25 miles fromElko. The ores of this district are smeltingores, and the town has two large furnaces forthe reduction of this ore. The principal mines 180 TMM &&GSFW are owned by the Empire Company of NewYork. There is also a weekly stage line into theSouth Fork and Huntington Valleys—two richagricultural valleys, which are thickly settledwith farmers and stockmen. In addition to thetwo valleys last named, there are the Star,Pleasant and Mound Valleys, all rich agriculturaldistricts, and all tributary to Elko.
