Brill Com-pany have recently been delivered to the Washington, Alexan-dria & Mt. Vernon Railway Company, Washington, D. C. Theywill be placed in operation on the companys lines commencingat Thirteenth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, which is thecenter of the hotel and the traffic districts of the city, andcrossing the Potomac River by what is known as the longbridge of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The lines pass the mainentrance to Arlington Cemetery, go through Alexandria andcontinue along the shore of the Potomac to Mt. Vernon. The. with steel sheathing to extend all the way round on one sidewithout doors or gate, while on the other side is a small doorand a step. The rear platform has a railing. On the forwardtrucks are removable ice diggers. The general dimensions of the cars are as follows: Lengthover the crown pieces, 41 ft. 9 ins.; panel over the crown pieceat the front, 3 ft. 9 ins., and at the rear, 5 ft.; width over thesills and the sheathing, 8 ft. 3 ins.; centers of the posts, 2 ins.; cross joists, 4J/^ ins. x 5^,^ ins.; side sill size, 4 ins. x7^ ins.; end sill size, 534 is. x 6% ins.; sill plates, ^ in. x15 ins.; thickness of the corner posts, 3^ ins., and of the sideposts, 2^ ins. The cars are mounted on No. 27-E trucks forhigh-speed service, with a wheel base of 6 ft. and 33-in. wheels.
