While not the actual residence of the royal family, who live in the Royal Castle of Laeken, this palace serves as the official workplace of the King and Queen of Belgium and hosts important state functions. The current building, largely constructed in the 19th century, incorporates elements from the former palace of the Dukes of Brabant and showcases a harmonious blend of neoclassical and Empire styles. Its grand exterior, featuring a symmetrical design with columns and pediments, reflects the dignity and authority of the Belgian state. Inside, the palace boasts opulent state rooms, including the famous Mirror Room with its ceiling adorned with the wings of Thailand's jewel beetles, a work by contemporary artist Jan Fabre.
