Dozens of demonstrators and activists from peace and anti-arms trade organisations gather outside EDO-MBM weapons factory in Brighton in protest against Brighton and Hove City Council's planning permission to expand the factory's production of aircraft weapons release systems at its site in Brighton. Activists argue that the EDO-MBM factory has produced aircraft weapons components and sold them to several countries, included some with a bad record of human rights violations. According to anti-arms trade campaigners, EDO-MBM weapons components have been used by the American-led coalition during their 2003 invasion of Iraq, by Israel in air bombardments on Gaza, and by Saudi jets in their attacks on Yemen, thus highlighting the factory's complicity in war crimes. The campaign against EDO-MBM began in 2004 and has often seen weekly protests outside the factory in Brighton, with a police force attending the site during the events
