Mammoth evolutionary migration. Artwork showing the evolution and migration of mammoth species over millions of years. Starting in Africa from to 3 million years ago, the mammoth spread to Europe and central Asia ( to million years ago), to India ( to million years ago), Siberia (350,000 to 3,700 years ago) and North America ( to million years ago). A dwarf species of mammoth survived the last Ice Age (20,000 years ago), and was found in California up until 13,500 years ago. All these mammoth species are now extinct.
