Scenic view of the arched railway bridge on the River Mincio in Peschiera del Garda, an old town on the shore of Lake Garda, Verona, Veneto, Italy

The railway bridge of Peschiera del Garda is a bridge of the Milan-Venice state line that crosses the Mincio river near Peschiera del Garda. The railway line, indispensable for Lombardy and Veneto regions for military and civil purposes, was started under the Austrian government in 1841. The bridge with seven arches, designed by architect Giambattista Bossi, was inaugurated in 1854 and incorporated into the fortifications walls; it was built so that it did not interfere with the defensive system of the city, which played a role of strategic importance. The bridge was heavily bombed during World War II and was rebuilt.
