Erik Satie's former house in Arcueil near Paris France

Lacking financial means Erik Satie moved to Arcueil in the southern suburbs of Paris in 1897, to a small flat lacking running water or electricity. He had to fetch all his water from a local well. It was here that he lived reclusively until his death in 1925, refusing all visitors. Famously here were discovered two pianos stacked one on top of the other, and many identical velvet suits.
