ISLE OF WIGHT; COWES; STARTING CANNON WITH "QUEEN GALADRIEL" IN BACKGROUND


The 25 guns on Cowes waterfront are used at 10 minute intervals to start races during Cowes Week. They are from a miniature frigate built by George IV In 1820. They are not all original as 4 guns were stolen and replaced by replicas. The gunpowder budget runs to £6,500 for Cowes week for the combined Cowes Clubs
