Hespent most of the two years in Nevada county, and in 1856 he returnedto Missouri via Panama. In the following spring he returned to California,crossing the plains the second time, bringing with him his mother andseveral other relatives. He located in Sonoma county, and in the springof 1858 he came to Mendocino county, and settled in Potter valley. At theend of a year he returned to Sonoma county and remained there till then came to Mendocino county and settled in Ukia
