Sometimes, in fact probably in the majority of such orna-ments, the cup had a cover, which has often been lost or destroyed. Thepresent specimen never had a cover. The upper portion of the mount consists of a broad well-designedband of silver, divided into three narrower bands by delicately workedrims.
