Knee biopsy tissue. Surgeon holding a vial containing a sample of tissue removed from a patient's knee during an arthroscopy. This is a keyhole procedure used to diagnose knee problems such as arthritis and inflammation. Tissue removed during the procedure (biopsy) is frozen in wax and later examined to help diagnose infections.
