Hastings, East Sussex, UK. 4th May 2015. Revellers at the annual May Day Bank Holiday Jack-in-the-Green Festival, a folklore tradition to release Jack and welcome the the Spirit of Summer.

Traditionally the leaf covered Jack, is released from the Fisherman's Museum in a grand parade through Hastings Old Town, accompanied by traditional characters in elaborate green costumes, bogies, black sal, sweeps, morris dancers, giants and drummers, winding it's way up to West Hill, where it is symbolically slain and the Spirit of Summer is released for another year.
