An oil pump taking oil from a small reservoir placedunder the carriage, serves to prime the dynamometer andrecorder. This pump is shut off when the apparatus isworking. Measured distances on the chart between indi-cations of equal time intervals are directly proportional tothe speed, because the travel of the paper is proportionalto the distance traveled. The average speed for an intervalof 5 seconds can, therefore, be readily obtained, and thecurve of speed plotted on the .SECTION A-B FLEXIB!£ TUBE TO ^Traction dynamomcti , fbV measuring drawbar pull of tractors February 10, 1921 AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES THE AUTOMOBILE 269 A Budget Control System Which IsProducing Results Manufacturers are taking special interest in the selling methods of dealersand distributers.
