Stairway to Heaven
The Stairway to Heaven organisation campainging for a memorial to the 172 people who died at Bethnal Green Underground Station on 3rd March 1943 in the worst loss of civilian life in WW2. The station was used as an air-raid shelter and when an anti aircraft gun fired in nearby Victoria Park, it sparked a panic and stampede and 172 people died on the Roman Road stairwell.
