OFF THE COAST OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (April 10, 2017) Culinary Specialist 2nd Class Isiah Gerales, from Virginia Beach, Va., prepares dinner rolls in the galley aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83) while underway conducting a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests the mission readiness of the strike group’s assets through simulated real-world scenarios and their ability to perform as an integrated unit.
