Macmillan Legacy Garden Sponsored by Macmillan Cancer Support Silver medal winner Designed by Rebecca Govier (Green Edge Garden Design) This garden has been created to promote legacy giving to Macmillan Cancer Support. One in three of us will experience a cancer journey at some point. Macmillan is there every step of the way, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. The journey through cancer is not straightforward and the garden’s angular pathway of acid-etched concrete depicts the need to face new directions and views on life. The dark pool symbolises the fear surrounding a serious illness. Macmillan professionals are represented by 2D mirror-like figures made from stainless steel, tilted slightly forward so they reflect the plantings in front of them. Like the Macmillan nurses, the figures are there if you want to see them, but they also blend into the garden.
