Air Pump Nut : I have here an air pump nut lock andI think it is the best lock I ever handledand I am sending you a sketch, as Ithink it may be of some advantage toyour readers. It consists of only three pieces latch, spring and a piece of 14 in. pipe. Thispiece of pipe is tapped into the centre pump centhc piece. bottle when I finished it. Two monthslater I had to grind in that check valveagain. I then began to think things overand I took down the branch or deliverypipe where it connects to the Handcockinspirator. I found that the line checkvalve had been left out by carelessnessor by orders from some one. I thoughtit might have been left out on purpose,as the inspirator worked a little firmerwithout it. I ran the engine as it was for twomonths more, with the same results. Atthe end of that time I had to again grindin the check valve. This time I sent forthe line check valve and got it and put itin place. I had ground in the boilercheck three times in sixmonths. It has now beeneighteen months since I putin that line check valve andmy boiler check is as tightas a bottle now. This seemsto me to prove the value ofthe line check valve and Isay keep the line checks inorder and in place. Fred Nihoof
