The much lower oxygen ontent and the much longer )eriods of critically low oxygen evels (below 4cc. per liter) did lot harm the flowering and ruiting capabilities of the cran- lerries boxed during the winter. This was determined by care- ul examination of 3 one quarter quare foot samples of uprights ut out of each of the boxed areas md the check areas at harvest ime. The flowering and fruiting :haracteristics revealed in these ixaminations are also compiled n Table 1. However, in four of the six years, there were slightly more berries per square foot in the boxed areas than in the check area. In the fruiting characteris- tic which probably reflects weakness and stress more than any other, "Zero" (a blossoming upright which produces zero berries), the check area had more in three of the years, while the boxed areas averaged more in only two of the years, and the check and boxed areas had equal percentages in one year. In actuality, the slight, insig- nificant differences shown in the data cannot be attributed to oxygen content. They are merely natural random differences that can be had by taking small sam- ples from any uniformly highly productive Early Black bog. The area where the o
