Crews working for Seattle Tunnel Partners build the future plaza next to the SR 99 tunnel’s north portal. Crews are using white Geofoam blocks as a fill material for the plaza. Using Geofoam instead of dirt reduces the load on the top of the tunnel, which is directly below the plaza.
