Navy Lt. The “peanut balls” that are made by the hospital staff are a combination of peanuts, powdered milk, white sugar, cooking oil and multi-vitamins, which are mixed together to produce a 600 calorie per serving dietary supplement for malnourished children. The PRT periodically checks on the program to ensure the supplies are up to standard and that the staff is continuing to educate Afghan parents about nutrition. The hospital took complete control of the Feeding Program on Oct. 31, 2009, and the conditions for continued support require the hospital to provide the PRT with weekly feedback for program improvements, all patient charts for spot reviews, a list of staff members for the upcoming week, weekly attendance forms, and now a weekly inventory sheet.
