Flotsam on holiday beach at Playa Artola after a storm.
Cane is a common plant along the Andalucian coast and is easily uprooted from the sand dunes on which it grows by winter storms. In addition it creates a lot of dead wood which is then deposited on beaches many miles from its source. The local authorities then have to spend time and money clearing the beaches to make them safe, attractive and usable by tourists and locals alike.
