Adam is also chained, from below, to the other S, the dark S, which represents Satan, 'the uncreated dark Root in the Beginningless Beginning of eternal Nature. The zodiac has, as it were, retreated, to become a band of 20 stars, but the planets still move within the spiral around the central Sun. Adam is content in this state, which is the Garden of Eden.
