Gueutteville, Sainte-Mère-Église, Normandy, France - Memorial to Captain Ignatius Maternowski the Catholic Chaplain with 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment part of 82nd Airborne Division who parachuted into Normandy on D Day, 6 June 1944, and was witnessed helping the wounded and dead. On 13 June 1944 he was shot and killed by a sniper.
