This image may not be used to state or imply NOAO endorsement of any company or product Triangulum Galaxy (M33, NGC 598), combined optical and radio image. Also called the Pinwheel Galaxy, this type Sc spiral galaxy is about 2 million light years away in the constellation Triangulum. It is over 30,000 light years across. It is part of the Local Group of galaxies that includes our Milky Way Galaxy. Radio data shows cool hydrogen gas (blue). Optical data shows hydrogen gas (red) ionized by young stars. The radio data is from the VLA (USA) and WSRT (Netherlands) telescopes. For this image without radio data, see image R852/028.
