To partly overcome this difficulty,opaque guides, preferably two in number,are affixed either to the teeth or tothe plane. These show upon the films, ofcourse, and in mounting them it is onlynecessary to see that they register witheach other, whereby this step is made a cork is placed between them, withoutwhich the lower jaw could not be heldimmovable. The next step in this direction was tomake a holder as shown in Fig. 3. Thebase is of brass, the top of compound is molded along itsedges to fit the teeth, which insures itsbeing held immovably and in is for the upper teeth only.
