Foggy morning at Kalon Mosque. Bukhara, Uzbekistan.

The original mosque on the site of today's Kalon Mosque was destroyed by the Mongols. Reconstruction was completed in 1514. It was designed as a Juma or Friday mosque. The building and its large courtyard were designed to hold 10,000 people. During the Soviet-era, the building was used as a warehouse. It was restored as a house of worship after Independence. However, there are more tourists who visit than members of the congregation. Bukhara, Uzbekistan.
