Young people entering the colourful entrance to the freetown Christiania in Copenhagen, Denmark, on a sunny spring day

Young people entering the colourful entrance to the freetown Christiania in the neighbourhood Christianshavn in Copenhagen, Denmark. The golden corkscrew tower of the Church of Our Saviour (Vor frelsers kirke) in the background. Christiania is offering an alternative way of living. Of course, Christiania is a part of Copenhagen, and thus a member of the EU - but the inhabitants of Christiania proclaim the area to be a free city, and thus as independent as possible. Christiania offers a lot of cultural events, concerts, restaurants, a meaningful, alternative living and solidarity for many people, and production and sale of many useful and solid products, such as the Christiania bike, but also hosts cannabis trade in the so-called "Pusher Street". Any photography in this inside trading area has been proclaimed illegal by Christiania.
