Microscopic Examination.—Sections (collodion, and hema-toxylon and eosin) made through the site of the cor-neal wound and the coloboma of the iris show a verymarked round-cell infiltration of the subconjunctival tis-sue, extending to the very end of the piece of conjunctivaremoved with the globe, and of the episcleral tissue, as farback as the insertion of the rectus muscle. Fusing at thelimbus, these two zones of inflammation become more andmore separated posteriorly by connective tissue free fromchange. In the substance of the cornea (Fig. 1), well within thecorneoscleral junction, one sees the corneal incision with itsouter entrance filled by a quadrilateral mass of epithelialcells in direct continuity with those of the cornea, which. Immediately below this, forabout four-fifths of its thickness, the substantia propria isfirmly united by newly formed connective tissue, which, per-haps, suggests the appearance of being in an edematous con-dition. Posteriorly, however, the incision gapes widely, forming a large triangular aperture in the center of which isa large tag of the anterior capsule of the lens that is not seenin any of the other sections from this specimen. On bothsides of the wound the margins are covered by large massesof cells, coming from the endothelial layer to take part in theprocess of repair. Elsewhere on Descemets membrane thereare no signs of cyclitic dots. The spaces of Fontana andSchlemms canal are filled with leucocj^tes, which are alsoseen in considerable numbers lying in fi
