Leaves ovate-lanceolate, acute at both ends, crenated, glabrous above, with subrevolute edges. New York to Carolina, in swamps. Height 3 ft. to 5 ft. in America; 10 ft. to 12ft. in England. Flowers white ; June and Fruit ovate, bluish black; ripe in September. 7. V.
