Stewart and Elizabeth White,who were pioneers of Salt Lake valley,and was born at Draper, Salt Lakecounty, in 1867. His boyhood days werespent unon his fathers farm, wherehe early learned the lessons of indus-try and perseverance. He attendedthe district schools of his native town and later completed a thorough courseof study at the University of Deseret,after which he taught in the publicschools of the State for three subsequently entered the Ann Arborschool of law at the University ofMichigan, from which institution he. graduated in 1892. Returning to SaltLake City he entered upon the prac-tice of his profession and for six yearswas the senior member of the well-known law firm of Stewart & 1894 he married Ella M. Nebeker,daughter of George and Maria L. Neb-eker. In 1898 he was elected a mem-ber of the third State legislature andv.^as chairman of the judiciary commit-tee of the lower house of that 1900 he was elected judge of thethird judicial district court, which po-sition he now occupies.
