Preparealso a roller bandage of gauze or cotton cloth, a curved or straightham-splint properly padded, and three adhesive straps for hold-ing the 286 THE SHAFT OF THE FEMUR 287 In addition, three coaptation splints for surrounding the thighare required, also six webbing straps with buckles or strips ofbandage to be used as straps ; fresh sheets or pillow-cases ortowels for padding ; a swathe, to encircle the pelvis, made ofunbleached cotton cloth or medium weight Shaker flannel ; anda long outside splint of wood, four inches wide, to extend fromthe axilla to six inches below the sole of the foot. To this lasta cross-piece, eighteen inches long, should be fastened, makingthus a long T-splint. The list is completed by two towels forperineal straps, safety-pins, a pulley, which can be bought at little-cost at any hardware store (see Fig. 389). This pulley shouldbe screwed into a broom-handle cut to the right height. A block
