This stock realized but poor prices and harmed the market. Roses were abundant and sold toler- ably well at from $2 to $3 per hundred for short-stemmed blooms and $6 to $10 for the better grades. The call was chiefly for the short and medium grades. Carnations sold well, especially the col- ored ones, at $5 to $6. A few fancies realized $8. Colored snapdragons sold well; the white ones not at all. The small types of gladioli, Spanish irises, yellow marguerites and bachelor's but- tons were in good demand, as were col- ored stocks, some specially fine spikes realizing $12 per hundred. Lilies sold poorly, as did valley. Narcissus Barrii conspicuus was hard to sell, but poeticus went better. Darwin tulips made $40 to $60 per thousand. A good many early tulips also appeared. Bunches of feverfew, gypsophilas, candytuft, etc., had a good sale.
