Pocket watch. The images on this watch allude to the marriage of the future Dutch stadtholder William II and Mary Stuart, the daughter of the English king. On the top of the case the royal couple looks at the mythological princess Ariadne, and on the bottom Neptune is taking them across the North Sea to the Netherlands. William may well have given Mary this watch as a wedding present.
