HE purpose of this paper is to report four cases of pellagroiddi ease occurring in a Massachusetts State Hospital during thepast two years. Three of the patients first showed symptomsafter many years of custodial care, and in the case of two ofthem without any exposure whatever to the sun. Spoiled corn,in the Lombrosian sense, can be positively excluded in at leastthree cases, yet in two of these the characteristic post mortemles ons were found. In all four cases the relation to dietarydeficiency seems very clear. All questions of epidemiology areexcluded since there are very few such cases seen in Massa-chusetts, and, moreover, these cases occurred sporadically. Intwo cases r
