The Japanese light cruiser "Kashii" sinking, January 12, 1945.
After having been attacked and hit by torpedo planes and Curtiss SB2C Helldiver light bombers from Task Force 38 of the US Navy, the Japanese light cruiser "Kashii" sank off the coast of Indochina, January 12, 1945. It was part of the escort of a convoy of tankers and transports. The photo was taken by a plane from the American aircraft carrier "Hancock". Completed in 1941 and transformed in 1944, the "Kashii" had a 6,300-ton displacement when fully loaded. It belonged to the Katori class.
