In the first place, the reservoirs have differentdegrees of inclination east and west of the Balcones fault line, whichruns diagonally north and south through the county and divides itinto two distinct artesian districts. This fault line zone extends fromthe vicinity of Temple northward, just west of Waco, through theextreme northeastern corner of the county, and results in a break inthe regularity of inclination whereby all the strata east of that lineare dropped 200 to 300 feet or more. Hence the reservoirs east ofthis fault zone are somewhat deeper than they would be were thecontinuity of the dip unbroken.
