People were loud in its praises,claiming it surpassed all others in excellence, witha flavor like chat of a strawberry, hence its desirable market size, 6 to 8 lbs. Its outside ap-pearance compares favorably with the green nut-meg of old, turning to a yellowish hue when smooth, deep flesh is of an attractive pkt. 5 cts., oz. 10 cts., % lb. 30 cts., lb. $ Early Netted Gem Melon EARLY NETTED GEM. This variety has become very popular as a market melon in theWestern cities. Shipped in basket^ in immensequantities. They grow remarkably uniform, weigh-ing from one and a quarter to one and a halfpounds each. They are thick-meated, the flesh islight green in color, and uniformly of fine, lusciousflavor; skin green, regularly ribbed and thicklynetted. This variety isof a decidedly distinct appearance, the outiside skinbeing deeply corrugated, with -^hick flesh and smallseed cavity.
