All the steamers of the Canadian Pacific railway have been withdrawn from the trans-Pacific service. These steamers were chiefly relied upon for shipments of giganteum lily bulbs from Yokohama, as they make by far the fastest time to the United States, Some steamers of the Japanese lines have also been withdrawn and some delay in shipments may be expected as a conse- quence. The first shipments left Yoko- hama on the Aki Maru August 24, the Minnesota, an American boat, August 29, and the Manchuria August 29. These shipments consist of multiflorum and giganteum. They are due in New York from September 25 to October 10. FflENCH The early shipments of French bulbs, prior to August 16, exceeded the total arrivals at New York for either of the preceding two years. Then for a month there were no arrivals, but the Patria, which came in-f rom Marseilles last week, brought a big shipment. The total now reaches a record figure. Never before have there been so many French bulbs in this country as at present, and it is said there are more to come. The shipment on the Patria was as follows: Consignee. Cases.
