A German oriental lion hunt, circa 1700 - 1720 Oil on canvas. Hunting scene with numerous figures in an oriental landscape. In the foreground an injured lion, throwing a huntsman along with his horse to the ground. Next to it two further mounted Orientals, attacking the lion with lances. On the right side in the middle-ground another huntsmen group with lion. Wide orientalising landscape with palm trees and architectural setting. Doubled, in a new tenter frame.
