First primary compara- tively long, second primary short; tip of wing formed by fourth, fifth, and sixth primaries. Tail graduated, and equal to wing in length. Tarsus anteriorly covered with one long scutum (in old birds), and more than twice and a half the length of the hallux without claw. Plumage soft and rather thick. Coloration very peculiar. Ranqe.
